How do you turn a personal symbol, a love of hypnotic techno and an unusual birthday brief into one coherent private party for 25 guests — with just five days between the first enquiry and the event? In March 2026 Harbor produced Frog Underground at Gatsby Warsaw: a closed underground birthday party built around George, a grumpy green frog that means a lot to the client.
The brief was for a birthday that felt nothing like a classic celebration: a closed, informal party for friends, some of them travelling from other countries. That set the tone — relaxed, with no host and no set programme.
There were five days between the first enquiry and the finished event. In that time the concept had to be developed, a venue found, a DJ booked, the décor prepared, catering arranged and every supplier coordinated.
The starting point was George: a funny green frog with a disgruntled expression and genuine personal significance. George, together with the client’s wishes for the atmosphere, set the direction for the whole party.
Harbor developed that brief into a coherent concept — Frog Underground, or Techno Swamp: a dark underground space, hypnotic techno, green light, moss, plants and smoke that together read as a swamp. Within it, George wasn’t just decoration but the central character everything else was built around.
The concept needed a space where darkness, light and music carry the atmosphere, rather than a function room laid out for dinner. Harbor ran the venue search and chose Gatsby Warsaw.
Its dark interior and lounge areas became the base, layered with green atmospheric lighting, moss and plants.
The space was dressed in full: floristry and plants, moss installations, green atmospheric lighting and smoke drifting through the décor like mist over a swamp.
At its centre sat a themed photo zone — a moss wall reading “Only George is allowed to be grumpy” and a large George figure the client had specifically asked for, flanked by arrangements of orchids, roses, ferns and branches.
Catering was arranged around the client’s particular requirements, and guests had an open bar.
Music was one of the core requirements: not a generic party playlist but hypnotic techno. A general event DJ wouldn’t do, so Harbor searched for an artist working in exactly that genre.
The right DJ was found in Łódź and brought to Warsaw for the night. The sound matched what guests saw around them: a dark space, green light and swamp-inspired décor.
There was no host and no scheduled entertainment. Instead, Frog Underground gave guests ways to become part of the atmosphere themselves.
Themed accessories were ready for them — masks, glasses, gloves, earrings and other styling pieces. The coordinators wore T-shirts with a print designed specifically for the party, so the team belonged to the same visual world.
A separate interactive painting area offered easels, canvases and glow-in-the-dark paints — another way to spend the evening without a script.
To capture the party the way the guests themselves saw it, Harbor provided disposable film cameras. Guests photographed one another throughout the evening, producing spontaneous, unposed shots from inside the party.
After the event the films were developed, and a few days later the finished analogue prints were handed over to the client. They remain a private archive of the party, which is why they don’t appear in this case study.
Harbor was responsible for the whole event: developing the concept, the venue search and the choice of Gatsby Warsaw, finding a hypnotic techno DJ and bringing the DJ in from Łódź, dressing the space, floristry and moss installations, lighting and smoke, the themed photo zone and the George figure.
Also: catering to specific requirements, the open bar, the interactive painting area, themed accessories for guests, coordinator T-shirts, disposable film cameras with film development afterwards, on-the-night coordination and management of every supplier.
Within five days of the first enquiry, a personal symbol and a clear taste in music became the foundation of a closed underground party for 25 guests — with its own look, its own sound and a format without a host.
